Nepal Earthquake Relief: How to Help
It’s difficult to watch the images coming from the aftermath of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Nepal with devastating force on Saturday. With a rising death toll that is reaching 4,000, and thousands of others injured, it is time for immediate action. It’s moments like these that we all rally together and want to do our part and every little bit helps.
To make sure your contribution is as effective as possible, here are a few organizations that are already mobilized on the ground and have a trusted track record:
- Direct Relief has made available all of its medical supply inventory valued at over $100 million to local health facilities that are seeing an influx of injured in Nepal. They are also working with medical companies to secure additional supplies as needed. Direct Relief is ranked No. 1 on Charity Navigator’s list of the ten best charities in the U.S. and 100% of donations for Nepal are used exclusively to help people in Nepal. You can donate here.
- Catholic Relief Services is accepting donations to help 10,000 families with relief materials such as shelter kits, water, sanitation and hygiene materials for the affected areas in Nepal and India.
- Global Giving is collecting funds in order to help first responders meet survivors’ immediate needs for food, fuel, clean water, hygiene products, and shelter. Once initial relief work is complete, this fund will transition to support longer-term recovery efforts run by local, vetted local organizations.
