The DiSC Assessment

Understand how your people work so they can work better together.

Strong teams are not built by chance. They are built when people understand themselves, communicate with intention, and learn how to work through differences more effectively. The DiSC assessment helps individuals and teams do exactly that.

At iCatalyze, we use DiSC as a practical tool to help companies improve communication, strengthen collaboration, and build healthier team dynamics. When people understand their behavioral style and how others operate, they can reduce friction, increase trust, and work together with greater clarity.

What is the DiSC assessment?

DISC is a behavioral assessment that helps people understand their preferred communication and work styles. It looks at four core tendencies.

DISC is not about labeling people or putting them in a box. It is about creating greater self-awareness and helping people recognize how their style shows up in everyday interactions at work.

DiSC in the workplace

Most team conflict is not caused by bad intentions. It is caused by differences in communication, pace, priorities, and expectations. One person may want to move fast. Another may want more detail. One person may value collaboration and harmony. Another may be focused on efficiency and directness.

None of these approaches are wrong. The challenge is that when teams do not understand these differences, they often misread each other. DISC gives teams a common language to understand those differences and use them more effectively.

DiSC helps companies and teams:

  • Improve communication - DISC helps employees understand how they naturally communicate and how to adapt their style to connect more effectively with others. This leads to clearer conversations, fewer misunderstandings, and stronger working relationships.

  • Strengthen collaboration - When team members understand each other’s styles, they can work with more empathy and less frustration. DISC helps teams appreciate different approaches and use those differences as a strength rather than a source of tension.

  • Build self-awareness - High-performing teams start with self-awareness. DISC helps individuals better understand how they respond under pressure, make decisions, contribute to a group, and impact others.

  • Reduce conflict - DISC helps uncover the patterns behind interpersonal tension. Instead of personalizing conflict, teams can better understand what is driving it and learn more productive ways to respond.

  • Support managers and leaders - Managers can use DISC to lead more effectively, delegate more thoughtfully, and communicate in ways that motivate different team members. It also helps leaders build trust and create environments where people can do their best work.

  • Increase team effectiveness - When people understand how to communicate, collaborate, and navigate differences, teams become more aligned, more agile, and more effective.

Types of DISC Assessments

Depending on your goals, there are several DISC-based assessments that can support different levels of development across an organization.

  • Workplace
A strong starting point for teams and organizations, Workplace helps individuals better understand their own style, appreciate the behavioral preferences of others, and build more effective working relationships. It is especially useful for improving communication, collaboration, and day-to-day team dynamics.

  • Management
Designed for people leaders, Management helps managers understand their own management style and adapt their approach to better engage, motivate, and develop each direct report. It is a valuable tool for strengthening leadership effectiveness and improving manager-employee relationships.

  • Agile EQ
Agile EQ builds on DISC by helping people develop the emotional intelligence needed to read situations more effectively and respond with greater agility. It is especially helpful for organizations that want to strengthen adaptability, interpersonal effectiveness, and resilience in fast-changing environments.

  • Work of Leaders
Focused specifically on leadership impact, Work of Leaders connects a leader’s DISC style to the core work of leadership through Vision, Alignment, and Execution. It is ideal for leaders who want to become more intentional, effective, and strategic in how they lead others.
